Current Events and Training to Support Online Safety
Do you work with or care for children and young people aged 4 – 18?
Can you help us? The University of Suffolk invites you to participate in a project to investigate what parents, carers and professionals think about free national online safety resources created by Internet Matters and SWGfL
Professor Emma Bond, Professor Andy Phippen and Katie are working alongside Internet Matters and SWGfL to evaluate their online safety resources created for professionals, parents and guardians of children in care/care experienced, children who identify as LGBTQ+ or have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We are looking for interested parents or professionals to take part in a brief interview or an online survey to feedback on the resources created, to see whether they are useful, accessible and how they could be improved.
You can view the resources for professionals here: https://www.internetmatters.org/inclusive-digital-safety/advice-for-professionals/online-harms-index/
You can view the resources for parents and carers here: https://www.internetmatters.org/inclusive-digital-safety/advice-for-parents-and-carers/
What will I be doing if I participate?
Your participation in the study will involve taking part in an interview with Katie, a researcher at the University of Suffolk. The interview will last a maximum of 30 minutes, during which you will be asked a few questions about your perceptions of online safeguarding children and young people, your thoughts about the resources, their usefulness and accessibility.
Professionals, if you are unable to take part in an interview, we would really value your time in completing our online survey.
When and where?
The interviews can be held at a time convenient for yourself and will take place via telephone or web conferencing platforms (Zoom/Microsoft Teams). You can complete the survey at any time that suits you.
